Incentives for going solar
Just about everyone knows that solar panels are an excellent idea and a viable alternative to traditional grid-based electricity. Solar power is clean and efficient and leaves behind no carbon footprint. When you consider that installing and using an average-sized home solar system reduces emissions equivalent to two cars on the road, solar panels are truly the way to go. Everyone that cares about and lives upon this planet should consider switching to solar power, especially people here. The 30% Federal tax credit incentive plus your state clean energy rebates make this an opportune time to make the move from old-school electric company power to clean, efficient solar power. State solar energy rebates are more appealing than ever and when you combine them with the 30% federal tax credit incentives, you may be able to save up to fifty percent of the cost of installing your new solar panels. For solar rebates specific to your area, please visit our rebates page.
Going for solar panels will save you money every month and the savings will be significant. Of course there are other ways to save on energy costs and you should put them into action, as well. Turning your thermostat down by just a few degrees will cut your energy costs by hundreds of dollars every winter. Replacing your regular incandescent light bulbs with energy-efficient, energy-saving bulbs will lower the amount of electricity you use and pay for every day and night. Turning off lights when you leave a room will cut energy costs even further.Whenever practical, use a small toaster oven in lieu of firing up your regular-sized oven for preparing meals or snacks. When you do use your regular oven, cook food in ceramic or glass instead of metal pans. You will be able to lower oven heat by twenty-five degrees and food will cook just as quickly. Use a slow-cooker or crock pot to make meals-- it only costs about two cents an hour to cook food in a slow cooker. Take shorter showers which will lower the amount of work your hot water heater has to do. When you stop to think about it, there are all sorts of ways to reduce energy consumption and lower your energy bills every month.
When you make the switch to solar panels, you may begin to collect more energy than you can actually use. If and when this happens, you may be able to sell the excess back to the electric company, in effect making your utility meter run in reverse. If you provide power to the electric company during peak daylight hours, you will earn more credits than if you sell electricity at night. Check with your local utility company for more information regarding peak hours and reversing electricity charges. Be sure to look into solar energy rebates and start saving big money by switching to solar power.
